David and Shirley asked me to design and make an extending dining table to match their existing antique furniture. The table had to be small enough fit in with their everyday life but also needed to be able to seat 8 comfortably. The dark stain and wax really brings out the grain in this stunning quarter sawn oak. By hand shaping the legs and using pegged mortise and tenon joints this will truly become an antique of the future.
We decided to use the highest quality metal extendable runners to give a smooth trouble free action. When the middle part of the table is not being used it can be stored in the bag to help protect it.
